As canoeists, we know and appreciate the need for trees and wild spaces. So for this, and many other reasons, Badger is excited to be collaborating with One Tree Planted to create this very special series of canoe paddles.
This is not the first time Badger has taken part in a tree planting initiative (with many thanks to paddlers like you). Similarly, in 2019 we planted 100 trees linked with a limited run of 10 Special Edition canoe paddles. We did so to help mark our 10 year anniversary celebrations. However this time, and again with your help, we hope to plant as many trees as possible. Not only for this year but for many years after.
Consequently, and once again with your help, for every FOREST EDITION canoe paddle purchased, one tree will be planted.
Seedling purchases and planting efforts are coordinated through One Tree Planted.
All FOREST EDITION CANOE PADDLES will be marked by way of a unique engraving depicting an artistic “paddle tree”. This custom artwork matches the paddle’s blade style and the species of tree the paddle was built from. Just a small reminder of the great forest your paddle could help to grow.
Note the “paddle tree” artwork will coincide with the hardwood the paddle was built from, and not necessarily the species of tree that will be planted on your behalf. Most likely coniferous, softwood, or other native species will be chosen to replenish any chosen forests.
One Tree Planted reforestation projects encompass the globe, include regions in Canada (including British Colombia, Ontario, New Brunswick, and Quebec), USA (including the Appalachias, California, Florida, Idaho, Oregon, and other National Forests). Other forest regions include Mexico, Latin America, Africa, Asia, and even Europe! Visit One Tree Planted online for their most current planting projects.

There are a multitude of reasons for planting trees, but it must be done right. According to One Tree Planted, trees help clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, and provide habitat to over 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity. Forests also provide jobs to over 1.6 billion people, absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere, and are key ingredients in 25% of all medicines. Discover more about the importance of reforestation and the six pillars that explain why trees are vital at One Tree Planted.
Cherry is by far the favoured wood of choice for building paddles at Badger.
100 seedlings were planted in coordination with TreeEra. This was done in recognition of our 10 Year Anniversary whereby 10 Special Edition canoe paddles were created and 10 trees were planted for each of the limited issue paddles we built and sold for our celebratory year.
50 seedlings to be planted in British Columbia were purchased pre-season in February 2022 from One Tree Planted to initiate our commitment to the Forest Edition Canoe Paddles by Badger campaign.
A total of 34 seedlings were purchased from One Tree Planted helping to plant seedlings in Ontario, Quebec, and where “most needed” around the world.
Thanks to some late sales in 2022 and a few more in early 2023, 50 more seedlings were purchased from One Tree Planted: 18 seedlings for Ontario, 18 for Quebec, and 14 more for where “most needed” in the United States. Along with, 8 more seedlings that were purchased for the United Kingdom!
18 seedlings were purchased in March to be planted where they were “most needed” in the U.S.A specifically for OTP Longleaf Pine Restoration project. And thanks to a few extra sales from the U.K. in April, 3 more seedlings were purchased and planted in the United Kingdom.
14 seedlings were purchased in early July, as part of the One Tree Planted Forest Fire Recovery project, helping to reforest lands damaged by record-setting fires in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and more.
