As canoeists, we know and appreciate the need to preserve and protect our wild spaces. So for this, and many other reasons, Badger is excited to be collaborating with One Tree Planted to create a line of special anniversary issue of our Forest Edition canoe paddles for 2024.
We first started in 2019 when we planted 100 trees linked with a limited run of 10 Special Edition canoe paddles to help mark our 10 year anniversary celebrations. We continued our efforts in 2022 with our original Forest Edition canoe paddles, planting one tree for every special edition paddle built and sold. Over the next two years we planted another 194 seedlings with OneTreePlanted.
This year, we hope you will join us in celebrating 15 years of wilderness adventures and help support reforestation efforts across North America and around the world!
Thus, for every Anniversary Issue FOREST EDITION canoe paddle built and purchased in 2024, five trees will be planted.
Seedling purchases and planting efforts are coordinated through One Tree Planted. Scroll down to see all of our seedling purchases to date…
All Anniversary Issue FOREST EDITION CANOE PADDLES will be marked by way of a unique engraving depicting an artistic “paddle tree”. This custom artwork matches the paddle’s blade style and the species of tree the paddle was built from. Just a small reminder of the great forest your paddle could help to grow.
Note the “paddle tree” artwork will coincide with the hardwood the paddle was built from, and not necessarily the species of trees that will be planted on your behalf. Most likely coniferous, softwood, or other native species will be chosen to replenish any chosen forests.
One Tree Planted reforestation projects encompass the globe, including regions in Canada (including British Colombia, Ontario, New Brunswick, and Quebec), the USA, Mexico, Latin America, Africa, Asia, and even Europe! Visit One Tree Planted online for their most current planting projects.

There are a multitude of reasons for planting trees, but it must be done right. According to One Tree Planted, trees help clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, and provide habitat to over 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity. Forests also provide jobs to over 1.6 billion people, absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere, and are key ingredients in 25% of all medicines. Discover more about the importance of reforestation and the six pillars that explain why trees are vital at One Tree Planted.
Cherry is by far the favoured wood of choice for building paddles at Badger.
Currently Forest Edition Canoe Paddles are available exclusively through select retailers found below or directly from Badger Paddles.
100 seedlings were planted in coordination with TreeEra. This was done in recognition of our 10 Year Anniversary whereby 10 Special Edition canoe paddles were created and 10 trees were planted for each of the limited issue paddles we built and sold for our celebratory year.

14 seedlings were purchased in early July, as part of the One Tree Planted Forest Fire Recovery project, helping to reforest lands damaged by record-setting fires in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and more. Then in August another 18 seedlings were purchased and planted in Alberta, Canada.

50 seedlings were purchased just before Canoecopia for Badger‘s first official batch of ANNIVERSARY ISSUE canoe paddles, and as part of the One Tree Planted new United States Recovery project to help reforest lands damaged by forest fire recovery in the west, along with longleaf pine restoration in the southeast, and National Forest restoration from coast to coast. At the same time, and as part of our Forest Edition series, another 60 seedlings were purchased to be planted “where most needed” to help revitalize forests in Ontario, Canada.
