BADGER® Paddle Sizing Chart - Text Version :: BADGER® & Classic BADGER® Paddles

Measuring for a BADGER® Canoe Paddle or a Classic BADGER® Canoe Paddle: Using a paddle or a stick, position your hands with one hand on the grip (or butt end) and the other somewhere along the shaft/stick. Rest the shaft on the top of your head so that each of your elbows are at a 90º angle.

Next, measure from the butt end of the stick to the outside edge of your other hand. (See the RED ZONE) Make note of this measurement. Now find your BADGER® canoe paddle length using your RED ZONE measurement and the Paddle Sizing Chart below.

For a fully illustrated version of these instructions, or for directions to measure using a broom or yardstick, please see our How To Size a BADGER® Paddle illustration.

Note: These measurements are to be used as a guideline only. There are many factors that come into play when choosing a canoe paddle that varies between paddlers (including weight, aesthetics and purpose/application). We all have our individual preferences, but our sizing chart gives you a good place to start.

If you find you are between two paddle sizes, and don’t have a specific preference, we would encourage you to opt towards the shorter length paddle. However, if you tend to sit up on the seat when you are in the canoe, you may want to choose a paddle on the longer side. Whereas if you mostly kneel in the canoe when paddling, you would be better to opt towards a shorter length paddle.
